Handcrafted Artisan soaps & Sea Salt Spa Soaps handcrafted in small batches using all-natural ingredients, butters, herbs and spices in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom.
I created this soap after a long day of weeding the flower beds ... three washes with regular soap and my hands were still dirty. So I set out to create a soap that would take off the dirt and still leave my hands soft. I also bought gardening gloves. ;-)
Our Vermont Gardener's Soap does the trick and then some. We included ground coffee beans for excellent scrubbing action and added nourishing oils & fats that don't dry out tired hands. Then we rounded it off by scenting it with refreshing Thyme and Rosemary Essential Oils.
All of our products are: Natural * Eco Friendly * Paraben Free * Decadent * Handmade in Vermont using solar power
This soap is made with lard & tallow (beef and pig fat) - which doesn't quite sound that sexy but both make for amazing soap with their skin friendly properties. Here's a cool article that explains why using lard/tallow just makes sense and helps reduce waste.
Ingredients: Adeps Suillus (lard), Sodium TallowateAdeps Bovis (beef tallow), Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Ricinus Communis Seed Oil, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Oil, Coffea Arabica (Coffee), ground, aqua (water), Sodium Hydroxide*
We did, however, listen to our vegan friends and created an equally mild, skin loving and all around awesome vegan version of this soap. Note that the lead time for this soap is 6 weeks to allow the soap time to cure & harden.
Every single one of our artisan soaps is handcrafted from scratch using our own recipes, made in small batches right here in the heart of Vermont's Green Mountains.
We use only natural, skin-loving oils, fats and butters, organic whenever possible. At North Country Soapworks, we support fellow local businesses and try to source locally as much as we can. We only use pure essential oils, natural plant-based colorants, herbs and cosmetic grade clays. We never use premade soap bases, detergents, preservatives, sulfates, synthetic ingredients, mineral oils, micas, dioxides or any other synthetic garbage.
Each handmade bar may vary slightly in shape and color and vary in appearance from what you see on this page.
PLEASE NOTE: Handmade soap will last a long time if allowed to dry between uses. To extend your soap's life, use a draining soap dish and keep it away from direct streams of water.
*Lye is used to turn oils into soap - this process is called saponification. All soaps are made with lye (if they're not made with lye, they're not "soap" but technically a "detergent"). No lye remains in the final end product.
